At Linfox, sustainability is embedded into every decision we make. From the design and operation of our facilities to the way goods are moved across the country, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint, while delivering high-performance outcomes for our customers.
Our approach prioritises investments in renewable energy, low emission fleet and green building design to help power operations – sustainably and responsibly.
Key achievements:
- Australia’s largest investment in electric heavy-duty vehicles, with 30 new electric prime movers ordered in 2024 – a landmark step in zero-emissions logistics.
- The deployment of high-capacity electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fully Green Star-certified distribution centres across Australia (including our Laverton site), capable of generating and storing renewable energy on-site to support low-emission operations.
- Ongoing modal shift from road to rail, underpinned by strategic investment in railhead facilities to reduce road freight emissions.
- Waste and water minimisation programs, internal behavioural change campaigns, and collaborative carbon reduction projects with customers.
GreenFox
Launched in 2008, Linfox’s GreenFox sustainability program has laid the groundwork for industry-leading environmental action. Since then, we have reduced our carbon emissions by more than 50% and continue to push the boundaries through the early adoption of low and zero-emission fleet technology and carbon-neutral facilities.
GreenFox enables us to collaborate with customers on smarter, greener logistics solutions.
Electric Vehicles
Since 2021, Linfox has been driving change in Australian logistics, becoming the first operator in the country to introduce a fully owned, heavy-duty electric fleet.
We began our journey with the first FL Electric Volvo in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2022, we expanded with Fuso eCanters, and in 2024, we raised the bar again with the introduction of the next generation of electric transport with the Volvo FM and FH prime movers. This marked the first time these models hit Australian roads.
In 2025 we’ve made our biggest commitment yet, adding 30 electric prime movers to our national fleet – the largest investment of its kind in Australia.

5 Star Green Star Certification
Linfox is proud to operate multiple state-of-the-art distribution centres that have achieved a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built certified rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA).
This certification recognises excellence in sustainable design, construction and operation, and reflects our commitment to a cleaner, greener future for logistics.
Our Laverton, Victoria, Regency Park, South Australia and Willawong, Queensland sites are all 5 Star Green Star Designed and As Built certified.

Road to Rail
Transitioning more freight from road to rail is a key element of Linfox’s sustainability strategy.
Rail-based intermodal freight systems emit less CO2 than truck-only systems making them three times more fuel efficient than road transport.
We are one of the largest containerised rail freight providers in Australia.
Linfox invests in resources to move more freight from road to rail:

- 31.3M km travelled annually
- 16M pallets shipped annually

We continue to invest in strategically located railhead facilities nationwide to further enhance our Intermodal capabilities throughout Australia.
As our rail services expand, adopting rail transportation offers Linfox customers a significant opportunity to strengthen their own sustainability targets.

Linfox’s new Adelaide freight terminal
Direct railhead access enables the shift from road to rail, reducing emissions and fuel use by moving up to 450 containers weekly.
Designed for scalability, the terminal handles diverse freight, including temperature-sensitive products, ensuring that it meets the evolving needs of the national supply chain.
